Vicarious love from hearing about someone so loved

I wish I had more of my own personal memories to share. But my core memory of Howard is how much he loved his family, and hearing about this and seeing this demonstrated in so many different ways, all the way through my childhood through to adulthood.

Hearing hundreds of fragments of discussions about villa home or away games over the years - either those in person with a couple of stubbies and strongbows, or via messages with Mol about the state of play (obviously, always positive, optimistic messages...); the check-ins about how hard the kids were working, or what help was needed at home, or how Howard and Jan could support; the thoughtful messages back and forth about my life and how I was doing.. he was so loving and so loved, so consistently showing up for his kids and his people.

I will never forget catching a train with Molly back to Manchester from Warrington, and Howard discreetly palming £20 in Mol's hand for 'a drink when we got home'. To which she obviously argued, and received the sternest but kindest staredown I've seen. The kindness and deep care was not lost on me.

Much loved, Howard x
